What did we do before the midi length? We either spent time constantly pulling down that too-short mini skirt or continually spent time trying not to trip over that rather too long boho-maxi skirt.
The midi skirt has freed us from those annoying sartorial hitches. It’s become a wardrobe essential because not only is it a flattering length, showing off slim ankles, but it’s also easy and comfortable to wear. You can literally throw on a midi skirt and go out and face whatever the day throws at you. Plus, with a few different tops and jackets they can literally take you from work to play and back again. Here are a few of our favourites available at the moment…
Time for work
This skirt is made for work – it suits corporate situations and more relaxed workplaces. Wear with a smart blouse and heels for a double dose of ‘I’ve got this’ when a tough meeting hits or team with a blazer and box-white trainers for a more relaxed day. Andrea, who also knows the power of a midi, has this pretty floral &OtherStories one, which works just as well for a picnic as it does the boardroom – and it’s currently in the sale!
Not so basic basics
Choose a midi in a neutral shade and you’re set to go for any occasion. A denim one in particular is a real go everywhere skirt – it will look as good with a white tee and trainers as it will with a little cami and kitten heels. We love a hard working wardrobe staple, and these three tick all those boxes.
Nothing says a holiday like a brightly-coloured or pattern midi skirt. Perfect for throwing on over your swimsuit to hit the beach bar or for a spot of sight-seeing, mix and match with a variety of plain vests and tees to maximise your holiday wardrobe
Out on the town
The occasions you hit the town may be as rare as Donald Trump being politically correct these days, but a slightly fancy midi skirt can come to the rescue for any last-minute party invite. Choose funky, bright shades or a sexy little print like leopard and then all you need is a simple top and a pair of heels and you are ready to go, go, go (and hopefully be back home in bed by 11pm…)
You can’t always trust the good old British summer to give you a golden glow. That’s why every make-up bag needs a bronzer.
